Ten Tourist Attractions in Ohio
69
Ohio has been made popular again by the hit show "Hot in Cleveland" but there is more then just the famed notoriety. Here are some things to do when visiting this fabulous mid-western state.
1. Cedar Point-Sandusky, OH
Cedar Point speaks childhood to me. I started going with my family when I was five years old. I rode my first roller coaster here. We have gone twice a year, every year for the last twenty years. This amusement park has rides and attractions for every person. They have over 150 rides including the world’s largest collection of roller coasters with 17. They have an entire section devoted to children called “Planet Snoopy.” There is also a huge water park “Soak City” that is connected to the amusement park. While visiting Cedar Point you should stay at Cedar Point’s Castaway Bay Indoor Waterpark for another great adventure which includes water slides, a water coaster, a visit from Snoopy and other “Peanuts” friends, a day spa and a fantastic restaurant.
2. Kings Island-Mason, OH
Ohio has two of the most popular theme parks in the country. Kings Island is definitely one of them! They have some of the fastest and longest roller coasters in the country, which includes The Beast which is still the tallest, fastest, and longest wooden roller coaster in the world. There is also a children’s area, indoor shows and music, and great dining.
3. Ghostly Manor Thrill Center-Sandusky, OH
Ghostly Manor is an all year round amusement center. It has the tallest virtual rollercoaster and one of the scariest haunted houses (according to the Travel Channel). The best time of year to visit this attraction is during Halloween (of course) when they include an outdoor haunt. They also have special holiday thrills and chills during Christmas. This is definitely a must see attraction.
4. Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center-Fremont, OH
This amazing museum houses the tomb of President Rutherford B. Hayes as well as having the original gates to the White House as the entrance. There are family furnishings here as well as Civil War and 19th century artifacts.
5. Schedel Arboretum and Gardens-Elmore, OH
This is an absolutely beautiful garden and arboretum. It has an authentic Japanese garden and a kitchen garden. They have a collection of rare trees and flowers. It is definitely a beautiful spot to visit.
6. Seneca Caverns-Bellevue, OH
This is a beautiful cavern with natural stone steps and you walk through an “earth crack.” You can even pan for gemstones.
7. Edison Birthplace-Milan, OH
Visit the childhood home of Thomas Edison the inventor of the phonograph, light bulb and other necessities. His home has been turned into a museum featuring his early inventions, documents, family furnishings.
8. Firelands Symphony Orchestra-Sandusky, OH
Visit the Sandusky State Theatre and view the Firelands Symphony Orchestra directed by world class conductor Carl Topilow. This is definitely a must do for a classy, relaxing evening.
9. Glacial Grooves-Kelleys Island, OH
This is a unique attraction where you can actually see the largest accessible glacial grooves carved by the large glacier that covered this part of North America 18,000 years ago. Truly amazing!
10. Historic Lyme Village-Bellevue, OH
This exciting village allows you to live in the past with a tour of 16 buildings which include a one-room school, general store, Victorian mansion, farm home, log home, and barns. It is definitely an exciting and education tourist attraction.

I was thinking of making a trip to the Football Hall of Fame and the Baseball Hall of Fame sometime. Now you have provided me with more motivation to visit Canton ans spend a little extra time in Ohio. Thanks for the information on these ten attractions. Much appreciated.
I'm not into rides. I am more interested in the gardens and historic sites as well as the Rock and Roll Museum. Dad lived in Toledo for a few years when he was growing up, but I've never been to Ohio.
I'm with FloraBreenrobison on this one.... :) I would love to visit the gardens, Seneca Caverns and listen to the orchestra play relaxing music!

I used to go to Cedar Point when I was little....way too many years ago! Another place I always wanted to visit is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland.
